Position Description: 

Primary responsibilities will include partnering with field Operations to drive performance improvement through the administration, coordination, and management of transportation safety and compliance systems utilized in fleet operations. Shepherd organization’s initiatives relative to transportation compliance data management and analysis and continuous improvement efforts, with emphasis on technology implementation, training, database administration, and field support.

Essential Functions:

  • Administer driver safety device systems including, but not limited to, telematics, camera systems, and ELD/hours of services management
  • Serve as organization’s primary point of contact for administration of driver compliance and incentive programs, qualification file management, random drug and alcohol program, and DOT violation management
  • Support vehicle incident reduction efforts through monitoring driver behavior data (i.e. telematics, camera events, etc.) and partnering with Operations to improve performance
  • Maintain fleet and driver databases associated with vehicle telematics and FMCSA regulated documents
  • Partner with Operations to ensure proper completion of driver qualification files
  • Partner with system vendors to ensure a continued high level of service from providers
  • Assist in special projects as department and organization needs evolve

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:                                                                                                                          


  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Basic knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, 49 CFR, and state regulations governing driver and fleet requirements
  • Experience coordinating and implementing transportation compliance processes.  Experience with distribution center / delivery type environment, and electronic logging software and onboard telematics safety tools preferred.
  • Maintain an effective balance of technical writing and creativity / communication to create highly refined work products for nationwide facility use / implementation
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient with modern Microsoft Windows Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email
