Position Description: 

The Mixing Center - GM works under the direction of the Senior Director - RDC Operations and in coordination with key members of the procurement department to ensure mixing center goals for productivity and internal customer service are met while decreasing freight exposure through effective scheduling and branch communication, also strives to reduce work related incidents and accidents by administering the company’s safety department policies and procedures as well as reducing employee turnover and organizational health through effective communication and mentoring.

Primary Responsibilities:                                                     

  • Deliver the mixing center’s annual operating plan.
  • Coach mixing center employees for continuous improvement.
  • Administer company safety program
  • Promote organizational health
  • Provide excellent internal customer service
  • Manage inventory programs to company standards
  • Cost per unit at or below target. 
  • Reduce frequency and severity of accidents and incidents (IFR = 4.8 )
  • Increase outbound per load tonnage over previous year
  • Reduce branch turnover from previous year
  • Maintain inventory integrity to below 2% absolute variance

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

  • Education:  Minimum required BSBA – preferred BSBA or logistics degree
  • Experience: 5-8 years’ experience managing in a high volume, low margin, high customer service distribution environment.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain, distribution, warehouse, transportation and inventory.
  •  Thorough understanding of P&L statements and OPEX costing structures.
  • Demonstrated people skills including influencing skills, listening and the ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required:  10% of the time, travel throughout the country and will require overnight stays.  Travel to the Field Support Center and other destinations will be required.
