Position Description: 

A critical member of the ATD analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) – he/she will be responsible for validating, optimizing, and productionalizing proven statistical models in the cloud. As a full stack developer and owner of the delivery cycle, the prospective candidate should be comfortable standing-up backend RESTful webservices, integrating model outputs with ATD’s existing IT infrastructure, and standing customer facing web applications. The individual will work on one or many product teams at a time. He/she must have very strong communication and analytical skills and an ability to work as part of an agile team (product owner, data scientists, developers, etc.) at the interface with traditional IT, where he/she interacts with data and end product owners to negotiate APIs and build data pipelines.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements, design, implement, & unit test software solutions
  • Work with product owners to understand and negotiate implementation constraints such as system APIs
  • Work with data architecture team and data engineers in the analytics CoE to understand and improve inbound data pipeline
  • Build and test software infrastructure based on existing data pipeline, methods proven out by the data science team, and systems requirements jointly defined with product owners
  • Design and stage efficient, and intuitive MVP Web applications
  • Work closely with both backend developers and IT data architecture group
  • Support bug fixing and performance analysis along the data pipeline
  • Serve as a strong advocate for a culture of process and data quality across development teams
  • Follow an agile development methodology



Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Technology or a related subject
  • 3-7 years of experience in systems integration & software engineering with languages which may include Python, Java, Scala, PHP, JavaScript, NodeJS, angularJS, HTML5, CSS, etc.
  • 2+ years’ experience deploying & integrating stat/ML models with cloud platforms at scale
  • Must be comfortable using the shell, scripting, and SQL
  • Experienced integrating models built using big data tools like Map/Reduce, Spark, CouchDB, Hive, and Pig, and Kafka
  • A healthy addiction to Test-Driven Development, version control (GIT, etc.), agile management (GIRA, Confluence, etc.), Continuous integration (Jenkins, etc.), and metrics-enhanced delivery model that gathers user feedback and interactions to measure impact
  • Experience working in start-up environment or and using Agile software development methods in a DevOps environment
  • Professional attitude and service orientation; superb team player
