Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager – Car Dealer Channel will be the development of business opportunities within assigned territories, focusing on ATD sales team, auto manufacturer field management, and automotive dealer groups. The incumbent will be assigned a sales objective for the territory. The incumbent will report to the VP Sales – Auto Dealer Channel. relationships with OEM field contacts at regional and district levels. Collect, organize, and maintain an accessible repository of program information and documentation and develop and sustain on-going communication of essential program information to the Car Dealer Channel field sales force.

Primary Responsibilities:                                                                                                   

  • Develop new business opportunities by establishing strong working relationships with OEM field contacts at the regional and district levels.
  • Develop new business opportunities by establishing strong working relationships with auto dealer groups at the corporate, regional, and district levels.
  • Develop subject matter expertise (SME) of assigned competitive tire programs e.g Honda, Toyota, etc. and develop business “playbooks” to penetrate these segments.
  • Support the auto dealer channel sales activities of assigned centers without an Account Development Specialist.
  • Support the development of Account Development Specialists within the assigned territory at the direction of the respective Manager Car Dealer Sales.
  • Achieve territory sales and productivity goals
  • Develop account strategies to increase revenues
  • Provide accounts with training, merchandising, and event support activities.
  • Develop and nurture contacts with tire manufacturer representatives within the territory
  • Employ business development tools (including Professional Selling Skills) as provided by the Company
  • Gather business intelligence and share with field partners and field support center partners

Success Factors/Key Metrics:                                                                                                         

  • Attain monthly Sales and Business Plan objectives within the assigned territory
  • Master the business development tools (e.g. PSS, Car Dealer Needs Analysis, CRM, OEConnection, proprietary web portals).
  • Maintain, and sustain proper use of the business development tools.

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:                                                      

  • Education:  Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university, MBA preferred
  • Experience:  Prior work/sales experience in sales and sales management preferred but not required. Some combination of tire industry, auto dealership industry, and training experience strongly preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required:  80+% of the time, travel throughout the US and will require overnight stays.  Travel to DC’s and other destinations will be required.
